Join Our Team !
Minimum standards for Diver and non-diver applicants:
- Have a minimum of 10 hours down time within the last two years (Rescue diver applicants only)
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Have a valid Drivers License
- Be certified as an Open Water Diver of a nationally certifying agency or an equivalent rating (Rescue diver applicants only)
- Show a willingness to help the Unit accomplish its goals and objectives
- Allot sufficient time for training and responses
- Have personal transportation
- Accept advice and directions willingly
- Be a Citizen of the United States
- Provide information or consent to a criminal background check (member must have neither any felony convictions nor alcohol or illicit drug related convictions within the last five years)
- Satisfactorily pass a surface swim test (all applicants) the "LSUR Open Water, SCUBA Evaluation" (Rescue diver applicants only);
- Completely fill out the Membership application (Letter of Intent);
- Be able to successfully pass a Medical Examination and complete a Medical History form SF93 (will be issued to applicant at a later time)
- Have the ability to lift, without assistance, 50 pounds
- Be in a physically fit condition to perform duties without risk of injury to themselves or others.

To begin your process to joining LSUR please fill out a Letter of Intent using one of the methods below
Return the Following:
- Your completed application (Letter of Interest);
- Photocopy of your Logbook’s most current year, 12 months of diving; and
- Copies of your certification card(s).
