EQUIPMENT - Side Scan Sonar 

The team utilizes the Imagenex 881 model Side Scan Sonar for its underwater searches.  The device allows the operator to search a wide area of the underwater terrain to target areas where divers may make a more definitive search.  This reduces the amount of hazardous exposure divers may encounter searching wide areas for a target.

Below is an image of the North dock and boat ramp at Lake Jacomo.  You can clearly see l-r debris under a floating dock, the north concrete pier, the concrete boat ramp pad, then the south pylon pier.  Some debris is scattered on the port side near the south pier, noticeable by the shadows.  Due to the shallow depth of this sonar pass we picked up some interference, which is noticeable as static on the image.  The bright yellow areas are where the sonar had a high amount of signal reflectability.
